Gary is a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He and his wife, Melissa, have two children, Nola and Gary. They both look forward to them growing up in a safe and prosperous New Orleans.
He joined the Orleans Indigent Defender Program upon graduation and defended citizens there for two and a half years, before going into his quasi-public defense private practice. He is one of Louisiana’s most fierce defenders of citizen’s constitutional rights.

Gary has 3 decades of trial court experience in the Criminal Court. C. Gary Wainwright was admitted to the Louisiana Bar on December 23rd, 1989. He graduated from the Southern Law Center in 1989, Cum Laude. Earlier, he earned his Bachelor in Business Administration from Millsaps College, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Gary regularly lectures at Loyola Law School on the Drug War and its impact on our nation. He joined the Orleans Indigent Defender Program and defended citizens there for two and half years, before going into private practice. Citizen's constitutional rights mean nothing if judges do not protect them.
